When there is practically no time for cooking, but you need to feed guests who suddenly arrived or to please the household with something original, then the best solution would be to cook french fries. Crispy and mouth-watering slices fried in a large amount of oil can be used as a side dish or served as an independent snack

Ingredients and recommendations

French fries are not only good in taste and pleasant appearance, but also easy to prepare. You will need a minimum set of products:

  • potatoes;
  • vegetable oil;
  • salt, spices.

To make home-made french fries with a beautiful crust and soft inside, you need to cut medium-sized slices. If you make them thin, they will become stiff or even burn out in oil, and thick pieces will not fry well enough.

Cooking technology

Potato tubers are peeled, washed thoroughly in cold water and cut into identical slices or slices. Immediately before frying, chopped sticks are recommended to hold for about 10 minutes in a container of water to get rid of excess starch, and then dry well on a towel or napkin.

For frying potatoes, it is recommended to use special vegetable oil for deep fat, but you can get by with the usual one. Oil is poured into a pan with a thick-walled bottom and heated to approximately 170 degrees. Then, slices of potatoes are immersed in it and fried over medium heat for 8-10 minutes.

As soon as the potatoes begin to brown a little, it must be laid out of the pan on a napkin and left for 15-20 minutes. After this, the oil is heated to a temperature of 200-220 degrees, slices of potatoes are again immersed in it and fried for about 5 minutes until a golden brown crust is formed. Ready fries are spread on a plate, salted to taste, decorated with greens if desired and served at the table.
