The keychain has long been an integral accessory of every person who wears keys. Therefore, it is not surprising that you can buy them at almost every corner. A variety of models are on sale, from steel sleeves to wood, plastic, polymer clay or leather.

However, a truly unique and original thing that no one will have can be done only with your own hands. And it is best to make a bimetallic keychain - from several types of metal (for example, brass and cupronickel). Such a stylish accessory for keys will be a great gift for a loved one.

How to make a bimetal keychain in the shape of an hatchet

First you need to make a master model of an ax from a special model wax, which is poured into a silicone mold. Then we will use the resulting wax for casting metal products. Since we make a keychain in the shape of an ax, you need to try to make everything look as realistic as possible.

Using a manual jigsaw, we cut the master model into two elements (ax and hatchet). Then in the ax we drill a hole under the ax, and in the cuttings to melt the missing part. Next, we turn to pouring molding sand and directly to the process of casting metal.

It is possible to get rid of the remnants of the molding sand after casting by dipping the products in a solution of borax, as well as their subsequent firing with a gas burner. The grooves on the ax surface are filled with silver solder, after which the surface is machined with a drill. The detailed process of making a keychain in the form of an ax, see the video.
