Mowed grass is most conveniently stored in crushed form, especially if you plan to use it to prepare mulch, various fertilizers or feed for domestic animals (rabbits, chickens, etc.).

Manually chopping grass is a tedious task, so a simple chopper (grass cutting) made by yourself is useful for this purpose. The device works on the principle of a food processor - in the working container is a cutting knife, which shreds the grass. As a drive, you can use a angle grinder or an electric drill. But the drill revs less.

In general, making a grass shredder for your home with your own hands is not difficult. A home-made device is not inferior to factory models in terms of performance, but at the same time it will cost less than store analogues, and is also more practical and convenient to maintain.

Do it yourself chopper grass

We take an old metal bucket (you can also have a plastic one) and drill a hole in the lower part for the dimensions of the grinder reducer. Then from two perforated corners it is necessary to make a mount for angle grinder to the bucket. Next, we cut a cutting knife from a sheet of metal - the edge sharpening is one-sided.

Also, from a steel sheet, it is necessary to cut a rectangular plate, which is attached to the inner surface of the bucket. Then, a bucket with a cutting knife is mounted on the gearbox shaft of the grinder and fixed with a clamping nut.

In the lower part of the bucket, it is necessary to additionally make a rectangular hole through which the crushed grass will fly out. A detailed process of manufacturing and assembling a homemade chopper, see the video.
