In order to bend rings and arcs of metal of different radii at home, you can make a simple device. Some call it a tire bender, others - a ring bender. But that is not the point. The main thing is that this home-made device can facilitate the implementation of some work.
To make this device, you will need three steel plates with a thickness of approximately 20 mm, and it will also be necessary to find (or can be turned on a lathe) three rolls with a longitudinal hole in the center. You will also need one strip of metal, a bolt with elongated nuts and a spring.
The main stages of work
First, we cut out the grinder with three metal plates with a thickness of 2 cm and a length of 15 cm, and weld them together to make a U-shaped profile. From the bottom, perpendicular to the base, another plate is welded - to fix the device itself in a bench vise.
On one side, you need to fasten a strip of metal 17 cm long, to the edge of which an elongated nut is welded. The second nut is attached directly to the side surface of the plate. Then we screw a bolt into the elongated nuts, after putting the spring on it.
We weld two steel axes on top of the open duct on which the rolls are “planted”. The third roll is attached to a strip of metal. Since it is the main one, it is necessary to attach a handle to it in order to conveniently twist it.
