The idea of making a ratchet grill is quite unusual, but at the same time very interesting. Thanks to the height-adjustable vertical “lift”, you can control the cooking process of meat products or fish, which will make the dish well-done.
The main stages of work
First of all, the frame of the entire structure is manufactured - for this, three pieces of profile pipes are used, which are welded together in the form of a U-shaped frame. In the lower part, a frying surface is installed, over which the grill itself will be located.
A gear wheel (gear) is attached to the side of one of the uprights, which "sits" on a steel shaft (a pipe of a suitable diameter can be used). A wheel in the form of a wheel is welded to the end of the shaft. Then you need to make a ratchet mechanism (ratchet).
Ratchet manufacturing
This will require a nail, a spring, two nuts and a piece of plate. We cut off the hat at the nail, and then bend it with the letter "G". In a steel rod, we drill a small hole for a small carnation or a piece of steel wire. We grind one edge of the nail on an emery wheel.
We weld two nuts to a piece of the plate at a certain distance from each other - you need to insert a piece of nail with a spring into them. The resulting structure is welded under the gear. It's so simple and quick that you can make a grill with a ratchet mechanism from improvised materials.
