In this review, the author talks in detail about the rules for installing a protective (dexterous) "belt" for trees. It is needed to protect trees from harmful insects.

If the tree is young and around it there are props, then the protective "belt" should be above these props.

In general, the installation height of the protective "belt" should be about 1 meter from the ground level (not less). This is necessary so that the spray flying off the ground during heavy rain does not fall on it.

All shoots (including weeds) should not touch the cone itself. It is better to immediately remove excess vegetation around the trees, because ants along this route will still find a way to get around the protective "belt".

Basic installation rules

For the manufacture of a protective "belt", the author recommends using 3 mm thick polyethylene foam. The material has elasticity and cushioning properties, and is quite elastic.

Once you have decided on the place where the protective "belt" will be located, and prepared the material, you can already proceed directly to the installation of the trap itself.

Cut off a piece of the desired size from the polyethylene foam, and then fold it in such a way as to make a cone. Cut the edges with scissors so that they are even.

At the next stage, we fix the protective "belt" on the tree trunk using a wire or a piece of wire.

Then, on the inside of the foam cone, apply a small layer of a special sticky substance against pests or rodents. The pre-longitudinal seam must be glued or joined using a stapler.
