If you urgently need to cut sheets of chipboard, OSB or plywood into blanks of different sizes (for example, for the manufacture or repair of furniture), but there is no manual circular on hand, you can solve this problem with a grinder.
This versatile power tool is usually always found in a home workshop or garage. And to remake an ordinary small grinder into a hand-held circular saw is very simple.
In fact, you just need to make a base plate ("sole") and securely attach it to the protective casing of the angle grinder. And for this, sheet steel 3-4 mm thick is perfect. Also for this homemade product you will need a furniture hinge, spring and fasteners.
The main stages of work
First of all, you will need to find a piece of sheet metal that is suitable in size, 3-4 mm thick, rectangular in shape. Then we make the markup and cut off the excess parts with the help of electric scissors.
Marking on sheet metal is carried out based on the actual dimensions of the protective casing of the angle grinder. Then we connect the cut-out workpiece with the casing using the usual furniture hinge.
After that, we cut it with a cutting disc under the circular saw and expand it with the help of electric scissors. The result should be a smooth and wide cut. At the last stage of the work, we assemble the entire structure together.
