Rail Rail Mini Anvil Stand

Mini anvils for the home workshop are often made from railway rail. If the rail is not cut and nothing is welded to it, then only the “hunchback" part of it can be used. Whereas the flat acts as the base.

However, this drawback is very easy to fix if you make a universal stand for a makeshift mini anvil from a railway rail (you can also use a crane rail). The main material for this stand will be ordinary plywood 20-22 mm thick.

If the workshop or garage does not have a full blacksmith anvil, but there is a piece of the rail, and something needs to be forged or trimmed urgently, then such a stand can help out. So that the stand does not "ride" on the surface of the table, it would not hurt to put a rubber mat under its base.

The main stages of work

First of all, we cut out the plywood of suitable sizes and do the marking, using the lower and upper part of the railway rail as a template. After that, cut out the template on the band saw.

Further, from the plywood sheet, it will be necessary to cut still boards in which we then cut the “core” according to the template. The number of plywoods depends on the length of the rail section. At the next stage, cut corners on the workpieces and glue them together into a “sausage”.

Then it remains only to cultivate a little stand - to give it a presentable appearance. The step-by-step process of making a homemade stand from plywood under the anvil from the rail can be seen in the video on the website.
