During welding work (especially for large volumes or when welding long workpieces), the hand gets very tired, which negatively affects the quality of the weld. To solve this problem, you can use a height-adjustable palm rest.

Using this device, which is structurally simple in design, the welder will be able to rest his hand on the horizontal "handrail", setting it at the desired height. As a result, the hand will get tired much less. You can make an adjustable stand for welding yourself, using improvised materials.

For the manufacture of this homemade product you will need a piece of a rectangular steel plate that will act as the base of the palm rest, two long pieces and one short piece of a thick-walled round pipe, a bolt with a nut, and also a piece of a narrow plate.

The main stages of work

In one of the long pipe sections, the saddle must be cut. This can be done on a drilling machine using a metal bit. We process pipe edges on a belt grinding machine.

In a short section of a round pipe, we drill a through hole. Then we weld a nut to this section. We beat off the slag and clean the seam with a brush. At the next stage, we weld together short and long pipe sections at right angles.

After that, the remaining piece of pipe is welded to the steel plate - we expose the pipe in the center at an angle of 90 degrees. Then we paint the whole structure. Details on how to make an adjustable palm rest for welding, you can see in the video on the website.
