A two-coordinate crosspiece vise for a drilling machine is designed to fix and hold the part during its processing (drilling holes). Due to its design, such a vice makes it possible to move the workpiece in two coordinates without getting it out of the vice itself, which is very convenient.

First of all, it will be necessary to cut 4 billets from a square-shaped profile pipe (size - 20 * 20 mm). It is also necessary to cut off several pieces of the corner, in each of which the author drills one hole.

After that, all cut blanks must be cleaned with a petal circle for the grinder. Next, the master welds four segments of the profile pipe into a rectangular frame.

Moreover, the ends outside and inside the frame must be reinforced with metal strips with a thickness of about 3 mm, since these places will experience stress during operation.

The main stages of work

Next to the welded frame you need to weld four "paws" of the pieces of the corner. On the sides of the frame, drill holes for the threaded rod. The second part is manufactured in the same way (only four “paws” from the corners in this case do not need to be cut).

From a profile pipe 40 * 40 mm, the author makes four corners. You also need to cut a small piece of metal strip. After that, you can begin to manufacture other parts of this device.

From pieces of corners and a piece, the author welds a carriage, which will freely move inside the first frame. At the same time, the second frame can also move freely inside the second tier of the carriage perpendicular to the first.

At the next stage, the author makes a third frame from a profile pipe 20 * 20 mm, which will be the third tier of the structure. On the sides, the author decided to strengthen the frame with a metal strip.

Preparation of parts before assembly

From a piece of a corner 40 * 40 mm, the author cuts two pieces from which clamping jaws will be made. To enhance each sponge, the author welds three triangular “scarves” from a piece of metal. The pads for the presser lips themselves are cut from a 10 mm thick plate.

Next, you can proceed to the assembly of the device, having previously cleaned all the parts with a grinder and painted them with spray paint.
