From ordinary plywood, you can make a cool wicker waste basket with your own hands. It can be used, for example, in an office or home office for paper waste.
At first glance, it might seem that making such a basket is difficult. But in reality, everything is very simple. Anyone who has at least once encountered the processing of plywood and wood will cope with this work.
First, it will be necessary to cut out the bottom and the upper hoop of the trash can from plywood. For this, the author uses a manual milling cutter. Workpieces must be sanded on a grinding machine.
The main stages of work
At the next stage, you need to saw thin plywood lamellas on a circular saw. From them then a wicker pattern will be made. Moreover, it is desirable to calibrate the lamellas in one size.
First, the lamellas need to be glued to the base of the basket using ordinary cyanoacrylate glue (superglue). And with some bias. For faster drying of the glue, the author uses an activator.
After this, the free ends of the lamellas must be glued to the upper hoop of the basket. Previously, the hoop is fixed with clamps-clothespins.
Further, the author glues the second "layer" of lamellas. The result is an interweaving of plywood stripes. It looks very beautiful, albeit simple.
Then it remains to grind the protruding parts of the lamellas and coat the finished product with varnish. For more information on how to make a wicker waste bin from plywood, see the video on our website.
