You can use sand to stamp various blanks from thin sheet metal in a home workshop or garage.

But not ordinary, but kinetic based on quartz sand and silicone - it is used for modeling. It will act as a matrix.

For stamping metal, you need some massive base (the author uses an anvil), a piece of a thick-walled pipe and a suitable punch in size (you can make it yourself).

How stamping is done

A piece of a thick-walled pipe (there may be some other “shape” instead) should be put on the blacksmith's anvil, and inside, put a small amount of kinetic sand.

In this case, the author uses a steel nickel cut from sheet metal 1 mm thick as a blank. Put it in the "form".

Then with the help of a home-made punch and a sledgehammer we hit several times on the workpiece. Shocks should be sharp and strong enough. As a result, a cup is obtained from the workpiece.

You can also use other punches to give the workpiece the desired shape. Please note that this is just an idea, and there can be many ways to implement it.

For details on how sheet metal stamping is performed using kinetic sand, we recommend that you look in the video on our website.
