The connection option with three switches, although it is very rare, but still has a place to be. For example, such a scheme can be applied in a private house with a staircase to three floors, as well as in the long corridors of apartment buildings.

It will take 3 switches, one of which is cross (installed between two main switches).

The power cable and the cable from the lamp are two-wire, the wires that go from the passing (main) switches are three-wire, and from the cross - the cable is already 4-wire.

How to connect the circuit correctly

Before proceeding to consider the connection diagram, a few words must be said about connecting the wires in the switches themselves.

Feed-through switches are connected according to the standard scheme: the supply wire - to the main contact, two wires - to additional contacts. You can see the connection of the cross switch in the photo below.

First, the neutral wire of the power cable will need to be connected to the “zero” that comes from the lamp (the color of the wires is blue).

The phase wire must be connected to the wire coming from the main contact of the first passage switch. The phase wire that comes from the power source must be connected to a common wire from the second passing switch.

Then it remains only to connect the four wires from the cross-circuit breaker with the remaining wires coming from the passage switches.
