A lot of old petal discs have accumulated in the garage or home workshop, and you do not know what to do with them? Throwing them away is definitely not worth it.

In this review, the author will tell you what can be done from the old petal disk, which has long served its term.

Making a felt circle

The first step is to remove the “petals” from the disk. Please note that with an ordinary knife or a screwdriver "cold" to do this will not be easy. And therefore, beforehand, the petal disk must be heated with a hairdryer. So the work will go faster.

In the next step, you will need to trim the blade disc to the desired diameter. This can be done with sewing scissors.

Next, around the disk circumference, apply a red high-temperature sealant, which is often used when replacing gaskets in a car, and is also used for other purposes.

On top of the sealant, the author sets a circle of felt, trying to simultaneously align it exactly in the center. Remove excess sealant with a rag.

Flap disc restoration

The old petal disc, if desired, can be made new. First, remove all the petals that have worn out, and then cut new ones out of sandpaper.

The author attaches a small cutting wheel (center) to the blade disc. Then we apply sealant in a circle and glue the cut strips of sandpaper (you need to glue them right next to the internal disk).

After that, we wait until the sealant dries, and we get a small cutting disc. Then cut the edges of the petals to the desired size.
