In this review, the author shows how to make a table lamp with moving wooden gears with your own hands.

Inside the case there is a hidden switch that turns on and off when turning the wooden gears.

The idea itself is quite original, and fans of unusual “stuff” for interior decoration may like it. You can make a table lamp housing with gears from plywood.

First of all, it will be necessary to cut paper templates with elements of the lamp housing. After that, the master glues the templates to the blanks from plywood, then cuts out the necessary details on the band saw.

The main stages of work

At the next stage, the master cuts out paper gear patterns, glues them to plywood, and then cuts the details on a band saw.

Next, the bearings are mounted and gears are installed. As pins on which gears are put on, the master uses wooden dowels.

After this, it is necessary to cut out of plywood a seat for a bulb holder. This part engages with the gears and moves left or right, depending on which way the gears rotate.

In the same detail, the author installs a hidden toggle switch for turning on / off the light bulb, which is triggered by abutment against wooden limiters.

At the last stage, you can proceed to the assembly of the structure. For details on how to make a table lamp with moving wooden gears, see this video.
