Natural wood and metal are ideally combined with each other, therefore it is quite natural that these materials are often used for the manufacture of various items of home furniture.

In this review, the author shows how to make a stylish side table with your own hands from pieces of steel plate, metal strip, profile pipe and wood (the master uses maple).

The first thing you need to do from a piece of metal strip is to make a hoop along the diameter of the future countertop. This will require a machine for bending metal.

From a maple board, the author cuts out two halves of the future countertops, which have the shape of a semicircle. They should be inserted tight enough inside the metal hoop.

There is a small gap between the two halves - this is the author’s idea, but you can make a countertop without a gap.

The main stages of work

To fix the countertops to the bottom of the hoop, the master welds four plates. Welds must be cleaned with a grinder (angle grinder).

At the next stage, the author welds the legs of the table from the profile pipe. A hoop is welded to them. The metal surface must be cleaned, then painted or varnished.

Halves of the countertop will also need to be varnished or soaked in mineral oil. The author drills holes in the base plates, and then screws two halves of the countertop onto the screws.
