Quick frame repair

If the rim of expensive eyewear (with glasses made according to an individual recipe) breaks, there is an easy way to quickly restore them. This will make it possible to fully use them until new ones are made.

What do we need

• Mini hand drill;
• Thin drill with a diameter of 1.6 mm;
• Awl;
• A set of miniature screwdrivers;
• Cheap rimless reading glasses.

Preparatory work

First you need to free the glasses of your glasses from a broken frame.
In this case, you must be careful not to confuse the correct position of the lenses.
For reliability, you should set the mark - make a notch from the edge of the glass or temporarily stick some small sticker.
You should also disassemble the reading glasses. To do this, using a suitable screwdriver, unscrew all the bolts and free the cheap glass from the arches and nose bridge - we will need these parts for installation on our expensive lenses.

Markup

The glasses of my glasses are different from the “donor” ones, but that doesn’t prevent me from using cheap lenses as a template for marking the future mounting holes. We mark the place for drilling with an awl.
At the same time, you must try hard so that the notch is not only visible, but also deep enough - this will not allow the drill to come off and scratch the expensive glass.

Drilling

I strongly recommend making a test hole in a cheap lens. This will help to choose the right force of pressure and avoid further possible errors that can cross out all efforts.
Such preparation will facilitate further actions and allow you to complete the work more accurately.

Assembly

After the expensive lenses are drilled, it remains to install the temples and nose bridge from cheap glasses and tighten the bolts with a screwdriver. The main thing is not to overdo it. Your lenses may vary in thickness. Therefore, in order not to damage them, it is better to work with a screwdriver without much effort.
In the process of drilling with a thin drill, you should be careful - because of its small size, it can easily come off and injure your fingers.

Work results

As a result, we received glasses with expensive glasses made to order, which can be used as a backup option even after the new glasses are ready. A cheap frame has one positive quality - it is soft, so it is very easy to adjust in such a way that the glasses sit well and do not distract from business.
