In every house there is an empty wall that you want to decorate with something. Hanging photos is already out of fashion, and funds are not always enough to purchase an expensive store decor. In this case, it is just right to have jewelry made on your own.
Do-it-yourself interior trim brings twice as much benefit. After all, this is not only saving your personal budget, but also receiving moral satisfaction. You can manually adjust the size or color of the decoration that fits perfectly into the design of the room.

Making an unusual elephant crafts is easy and simple at home.
Necessary materials and tools:
•Flour.
•Salt.
•Water.
• Tempera paints.
•Paint brush.
• Washcloth for dishes.
• Twine or decorative straw.
Cooking the dough.
The material from which the elephant is made is the well-known salt dough. There are many recipes for it, so we will use the simplest and optimal one. A lot of salt is needed to knead the test mass. Take 1 cup of rock salt and 1.5 cups of white flour. Add 0.5 cups of tap water and knead the dough. It should not stick to the fingers and will be plastic enough if you knead it well.
Sculpt the elephant.
We roll out a layer of dough to a thickness of 0.7 cm and cut the future body of an elephant with a knife. From the cropped part we form eyes, trunk, ear, legs and roll pebbles to decorate the city. To obtain small items, you can use everything that is at hand, for example, a cap from a ballpoint pen. We stick all these parts to the torso of an elephant, while soaking with some water at the places of connection of the parts. With a knife we apply visual folds and wrinkles. In the upper part of the body we make two holes for the rope.

We dry the product.
Drying is better in a warm place, but not on the battery, otherwise the picture will crack and crumble. Under natural conditions, the period of complete drying is from three to four days. You can periodically dry the elephant in the oven at low temperature, otherwise the dough will just bake. This will help speed up the drying process.
Colorize the picture.
Tempera paints are ideal in this case, but you can use other matte gouache. Watercolor tends to give gloss and will stick to your hands.
First, paint the whole picture with purple or lilac paint. Then we take a wet washcloth and wash off the paint on the convex parts of the product. The main rule is not to soak the workpiece very much.

After complete drying, paint the remaining parts with all kinds of colors. For different shades, mix different colors, boldly show imagination and experiment. From above the main tones we make prints with a piece of washcloth dipped in the necessary paint. Thus, blotches of red, pink, orange are obtained. You can decorate the elephant to match the wallpaper or elements of furniture and interior.

We hang on the wall.
Since the paints dry quickly, you can immediately thread a rope or a beautiful ribbon into the holes on the back of an elephant and hang a picture. For greater confidence in the strength of crafts, it is recommended to glue a piece of fabric on the back side. This will not allow the product to crack or break during operation.
Such an exclusive picture will only be in your one and only version. A do-it-yourself elephant will successfully and creatively decorate an empty wall and fill the house with comfort and warmth at your fingertips.
