Sock monkey

In any family there is a bag or box where mittens and socks that have lost their pair are stored. This fun craft makes it possible not only to sew a new favorite favorite soft toy with your child, but also to unload your stocks. Indeed, a monkey can be sewn from different socks, and this will make it even brighter and more interesting. I will show a master class on new raw materials.
We will need:
• two socks. I specially bought terry inside this product for the hosiery industry;
• scissors;
• threads, needle;
• synthetic winterizer or other filler;
• thick rope 0.5 m;
• red yarn 10 cm;
• ruler, chalk.
Operating procedure.
1. We outline cut lines on the socks. One of them will be the body, head and legs. We cut it in half lengthwise from the elastic to the heel.
2. Put the second toe sideways and first mark and cut the toe. He will become a monkey face. Then along the entire toe we draw and cut off a long thin tail. The remaining shaft from the elastic to the heel is cut lengthwise and we get two blanks for the hands. Two ears are cut from the remaining foot from the toe to the heel.
3. Now it is necessary to sew all the details so that our monkey is terry, that is, on the front side. When stitching your legs, leave your butt flat. Through this hole you will turn the product. When stitching the paws and tail, leave the butt end of the gum, and while sewing the ears along the top and side, do not sew the bottom.
4. Turn out details. At this stage of the work, the most difficult operation is the eversion of a thin tail. Do not worry that the monkey turns out small. The knitwear is stretched, and after stuffing inside the filler, our monkey will turn into an orangutan.
5. We stuff the insides of the parts with the filler. For the tail, you can use an ordinary rope or thick twine. We prick it on a large pin and, passing through the tail, insert it, as before we inserted the elastic into the underpants.
6. Sew all the holes and sew the muzzle, tucking it inside the edge of the sock. It is better to notice it at two points: above and below, and then already impose a blind seam. It’s easier to maintain symmetry. If the proportions are not very obtained, do not worry. We sew a monkey with its "twitches and jumps", and not a Barbie doll.
7. Fasten the ears in place, after pulling them a little at the open edge.
8. Sew hands, guided by the location of the nose and at the same distance from the ears. Attach the tail.
9. Make the eyes. For this, we sew two black buttons. The mouth was made of red wool yarn, neatly swept with a thread in tone. In order for our beauty to finally acquire a “human” look, we will tie a bow of satin ribbon to her neck.
This charming craft was invented in the forties of the last century in the USA. At that time, the country was torn by an economic crisis. Sometimes it was impossible for parents to buy their children not only toys, but even the necessary food. And then loving mothers and grandmothers invented this monkey by stitching it from old darned socks. Recently, the toy appeared in Russia. Either it became a sign of a recession in the economy, or it is the Anti-Crisis Monkey. So, everything will be fine!
