Purchased small shovels, which are used for various garden works, are far from always distinguished by excellent quality, and they are not cheap, given the simplicity of their design.

Therefore, if you do not want to throw money away, you can make this useful garden tool yourself from improvised materials. With a homemade shovel, you can not only loosen the earth or horticultural crops, but also dig holes for planting plants.

The main stages of work

For this homemade work you will need an old circular saw (it is impractical to use a new one), from which, using a paper template, you need to use a grinder to cut out the working part of the scapula with a small "process" in the upper part - it will be used to attach the wooden holder.
After that, the outer surface of the blade must be heated with a gas burner (or over an open fire) to red and with a hammer make a small depression in the central part. Then you need to heat the upper plate and bend it in such a way as to get a tulle - a place for the "landing" of the holder.

After that, it remains only to clean the surface of the scapula, drill holes of the required diameter for fastening, put on a holder, which can be made from any thick branch of a tree, and fix it with a nail or a self-tapping screw.

Such a home-made garden shovel, made of a circular saw, is notable for its ease of use, compact size, and also will serve faithfully for more than one year. The process of its manufacture, see the video on our website.
