When screwing screws into soft wood or drywall using a screwdriver or an electric drill (especially for large volumes of work), you can distract and accidentally squeeze the screw, as a result of which it will go deeper than necessary. To avoid this, special delimited bits are usually used. However, such a nozzle on a drill or screwdriver can be made independently.

This will require a furniture sleeve nut of a suitable diameter. We put it on a long bit, after which we set the desired tip length and grab it by welding. The hole in the nut should be slightly wider than the head. When tightening the screw, the flat nut washer abuts against a wooden surface or a sheet of drywall, which does not allow the head to go deeper than necessary.

A self-made limiter for a bit does not allow you to accidentally pull a self-tapping screw. Yes, and you won’t have to tighten the screws again, since they go deep to the required level quite tightly and reliably “sit” in their place. Using bits with a limiter allows you to increase the speed of the work, because you do not need to check each time at what depth the screw has gone.
