From a conventional network electric drill, you can make a budget version of a drilling machine for home use. This homemade product is suitable for drilling precise holes of different diameters (in the horizontal plane - on the principle of a lathe!) At the ends of studs, bolts and rods.

Moreover, such a makeshift machine will cost much less than factory models. And if all the necessary materials for its manufacture are at hand - then completely free. If desired, instead of an electric drill, you can use a screwdriver, but in this case the power of the machine will be less - suitable only for drilling holes in a tree.

Drilling Machine Assembly Process

First of all, two pieces of steel round timber with a diameter of 12 mm will be required - most often they are made of carbon steel of the St3 grade. Then you need to find four M12 nuts and drill into them one hole with a diameter of 3 mm. It is also necessary to drill the threads of the nuts using a 12 mm metal drill for this.

Next, install one nut at the ends of each rod, fix them with superglue, and then drill holes with a diameter of 5 mm and cut the M6 thread. Next, cut a piece 76 mm long from a steel corner of 40x40 mm. On one side we drill holes with a diameter of 6 mm (at the edges), on the other - a central hole of 12 mm.

We fix the corner on two guides from rods using special clamps with an inner diameter of 12 mm. The guides themselves are installed on a frame made of a channel. At the next stage of the assembly, we fasten the extended nut M12 and the threaded spindle. We install a cartridge on one end of the lead screw, and a helm on the other.

We also install a block with bearings on the bed, in which we install a second cartridge for fixing studs, bolts and rods. Then it remains only to make a wooden table to fix the electric drill. Now the home-made drilling machine is ready for use.
