Threaded rivets are used not only during construction or repair work, but are also widely in demand in the process of manufacturing various "home" DIY crafts (for example, from sheet metal or shaped pipes).

They are an alternative to standard threaded joints or welds. These fasteners have virtually no restrictions on use, as they provide a very good and reliable fixation of parts at the junction.

To install threaded rivets, you will need a special device, which without problems can be made independently from improvised materials.

The main stages of work

For the manufacture of this homemade product you will need a hexagon nut M27 (with a diameter of the outer edges of 45 mm - suitable for wrench No. 41). In this nut, an electric drill or a drilling machine will need to drill a through hole with a diameter of 5.5 mm.

Then, on both sides of the hole, it is necessary to drill a 10 mm diameter sweat. After that, the handle from the steel pipe will need to be welded to the nut (or you can use the handle from some mechanism).

At the next stage, we proceed to the assembly of the device for mounting threaded rivets. To do this, take the M5 stud, on which we wind a regular nut and an elongated nut, and also put on a piece of hexagon with an internal hole of 6 mm. Then we insert the pin into the nut, having previously put a piece of hose on it from the inside.

Now, with the help of a household electric drill or screwdriver and this made device from a nut and a stud (rivet), threaded rivets can be installed. For more information on how to do this, see this video.
