To bend metal (plates, stripes, squares and rounds) at an angle of 90 degrees, you can use a homemade hand press. This device is a small "nozzle" for a mechanical vice. Moreover, the vice itself must be powerful enough.

To make a do-it-yourself hand press for bending metal at an angle, you will need a minimum of materials: small corner pieces, a piece of a steel I-beam and four bolts for attaching to a vice. Please note that the use of this homemade device on a small vise is impractical.

The main stages of work

First, using a grinder with a cutting wheel or on a circular saw with a metal disc, we cut a piece of an I-beam and a small piece of a corner. Then the corner must be welded to the "sole" of the I-beam.

Next, cut two more pieces of the corner of the same length. We connect them together by welding. The result should be a "template" for bending metal at an angle of 90 degrees.

At the next stage, we make markings and drill mounting holes in the jaws of the vice and the workpieces themselves. For greater accuracy, drilling of workpieces is best done on a drilling machine. The holes in the vice themselves, of course, will be drilled with a drill.

The upper edge of the I-beam shelf needs to be sharpened to make a sharp wedge. To do this, you can use angle grinders with a grinding wheel. Then we fasten both parts to a vice with four bolts. Homemade manual press for bending metal at an angle is ready to work.
