A children's room is a place where there is not much security. Wall-mounted wooden shelves provide an opportunity to save space indoors, as well as protect the baby from falling toys or other objects from above.

You can easily make safe wooden shelves in the nursery with your own hands from old or new boards bought in the store. In the second case, you will save a lot of time, because the workpiece will not need to be planed.

The main stages of work

First of all, we cut off the blanks of the required size, and if necessary, we cut the edges on the trimming or circular saw. It is advisable to round off sharp corners by hand - using sandpaper (or on a belt grinder).

At the next stage, using carpentry glue and nails, we proceed to the assembly of the main frame of the wooden shelf. We connect the base, the back and two side walls together. On the front side of the shelf we fasten two slats.

We put down the hats of nails and cover them with putty on wood. Then we drill holes for furniture dowels, we put them on glue, and cut off all the excess with a hand hacksaw. To drill even holes for dowels, it is better to use a special tool for this.

We grind the finished shelves, after which we cover with a layer of varnish or soak in mineral oil. The step-by-step process of making safe wooden shelves for a children's room can be seen in the video on the website.
