To quickly measure the angle and transfer it to a wooden or metal billet, it is best to use a special tool - a malley. This simple device is able to facilitate the performance of certain works in the home workshop, as well as in the construction and repair of a house or in the country.

This goniometer tool (it is also often called the “memory of angles" and the "angle copier") allows you to avoid the additional waste of time for calculations and measurements, which makes it an indispensable assistant when installing various angular joints in the country, at home or in the workshop.

A simple and easy to use goniometer can be made with your own hands from scraps of a steel strip 40 mm wide and 2-3 mm thick. Of course, metal can be replaced with wood and even plywood, but in this case the device will turn out to be less durable. In general, which material to choose for this is up to you.

How to make a small angle meter with your own hands

First of all, we cut two pieces of steel strip 15 cm long (it can be done longer if necessary). You will also need to cut a small piece of strip at an angle of 45 degrees, which is placed between two long workpieces and scalded from the front side.

Next, cut another piece of a strip of metal about 40-50 cm long. We mark the workpiece in the center and use a grinder to make a longitudinal cut, not reaching the edges of 4-5 cm. The edges will need to be processed with a drill with a grinding nozzle.

Then it remains only to connect the prepared parts to each other using a bolt with a nut (moreover, the nut is better to use a wing type). The detailed process of manufacturing a simple protractor from scraps of steel strip, see the video on the site.
