To make a stone knife is much more difficult than an iron knife, but it is quite realistic. In theory, everything is simple: first you need to find a natural stone that is suitable in size. After that, it is necessary to process it well so that the cutting edge is as sharp as possible.

However, not every stone is suitable for this purpose. In this case, a slate is required, which is characterized by a layered structure and relatively easily pricks along individual plates.

First of all, we break off a piece of natural stone that is suitable in size, breaks off the shape of the workpiece, and then proceed to its mechanical processing using an angle grinder.

The main stages of work

At the grinding stage, the main task is to achieve a smooth surface on both sides of the stone knife, so it may take some time to complete this work. It is also necessary to align the edge portion.

After polishing the surface of the workpiece made of stone, we proceed to the next step - the formation of the blade and sharpening. This work is also carried out using a flap wheel for the grinder. After grinding, wash off the dust with water.

The final sharpening of the stone knife is done on a whetstone. Then it remains to wrap strips of genuine leather or a regular nylon rope on the handle. What is in the house at hand, then use.
