A very old knife (beak) with a “battered” handle was brought to the master for restoration. Pads are made of plexiglass, and the inner inserts are made of cardboard. To bring the knife in order, it will be necessary to restore the blade itself, and also make it another handle, more convenient and beautiful.

For the manufacture of the handle (two overlays for the beekeeper, as well as two internal inserts), the master decided to use textolite. The material is not the most noble, but in any case is better than plexiglass with cardboard.

The first step is to cut out the two inner inserts. The author uses an old cardboard insert as a template. Details are cut out of the PCB with a hacksaw.

The main stages of the manufacturing of the pen

At the next stage, the inserts cut from a piece of textolite blank must be processed on an emery or grinder. You can also use a drill with a grinding nozzle for this purpose.

Further, in each insert from the PCB, it will be necessary to drill three holes - the same as on the knife itself. Drills for metal are used for drilling this material.

At the last stage, it will be necessary to cut out the linings for the knife handle from the PCB. They also need to drill holes. And then you can start assembling the handle on the rivets.
