Typically, the pads for the knife handle are made of natural wood, multi-colored plywood or, as an option, fiberglass. But there is another material that can be used to make handles - this is genuine leather.

And to make an original leather handle for a knife with your own hands is not difficult at all. This will require a minimum of tools.

The first thing you need to do is cut from a piece of thick leather lining in the shape of a knife handle. Moreover, the linings need to be cut not separately from each other, but as a single piece - they are interconnected by a small "jumper".

The main stages of work

The next step is to cultivate a little leather blank. To do this, the master removes the chamfer along the contour of the overlays, and also cuts off all the excess.

After that, it will be necessary to make holes so that the linings can be pulled off with threads. The holes in the skin can be made using a punch or, for example, a drill, inserting a nail of the desired diameter into the cartridge.

Next, the master covers the skin with black mastic. You can simply use wax soak to preserve the natural color of the skin. And then the pads are put on the handle of the knife and stitched with thread.

The result was cheap and cheerful. For more information on how to make an original leather handle for a knife, we recommend that you watch in the video on the site.
