Need to quickly dig holes in the garden for planting young trees? Or are you planning to install fence posts on a summer cottage? To make holes of the required depth and diameter in the soil, you can use a garden drill.

This tool can be purchased at the store, but why spend money (especially overpay for Chinese "quality") when you can make this device yourself.

To make a homemade garden drill, you need a sheet of metal 3 mm thick (dimensions - 220 * 220 mm). From it it is necessary to cut a circle, which is then cut in half by a grinder.

The main stages of work

At the next stage, the master cuts a piece 130 cm long from a three-quarter pipe. A guide from a round log with a diameter of 20 mm is welded to the bottom of the pipe, the end of which needs to be grinded to a cone.

The author cuts two blanks from a metal strip, and then drills two holes in them. These plates must be screwed to the crescents, having previously also drilled holes in them.

Next, the cutting knives of the garden drill need to be sharpened and welded to the bottom of the pipe, setting at an angle of about 35 degrees. And note that you need to weld not the crescents themselves, but only the fasteners from the plates.

To the upper part of the pipe, you need to weld a half-inch pipe (perpendicularly), after making a selection for it. On this, the process of manufacturing a garden drill can be considered completed. See the video on the website for details.
