A self-made knife is an occasion to surprise your friends and acquaintances (well, or just boast that your hands are growing from the right place).

The main thing is to choose high-quality material. In this review, the author shows how to make a cool knife from a file on a tree (rasp) with your own hands.

The first thing the master does is annealing the file so that it is easier to process it. Then it will be necessary to grind the notches on the surface.

The main stages of work

At the next stage, the master draws on the blank the contours of the future knife. Then we cut out a grinder with a cutting disc or on a band saw.

After that, the author drills holes in the workpiece (in the tail) and forms the edges of the blade from two sides. Then you need to do a hardening.

After hardening, the author proceeds to sharpen the knife. The procedure is standard, but requires perseverance.

The final touch is the manufacture of a wooden handle for a knife. The author cuts out two identical halves, glues them onto a two-component layer and additionally fixes it with rivets.

Then it remains only to manually modify the handle and cover it with mineral oil. That, in fact, is all the work. There is nothing complicated.
