Factory pipe cutters for large diameter plastic pipes are quite expensive. And this despite the fact that their design is quite simple.

In this review, the author shows how to make a pipe cutter for a plastic pipe with a diameter of 110 mm with your own hands.

Please note that by the same principle you can make a device for cutting PVC pipes of a different diameter.

The advantages of a homemade pipe cutter over a grinder are quite obvious:

  1. no need to pre-mark and draw a circle to cut evenly;
  2. after the cut on the pipe, a finished bevel is obtained;
  3. there is no need to spend electricity (or mono work in the absence of electricity).

What to make a pipe cutter

To make a home-made pipe cutter, you will need a coupling for a plastic sewer pipe with a diameter of 110 mm.

We put a metal collar on it and fix it with bolts. We unscrew the fixing bolt that comes with the clamp and remove it to the box until better times.

If a mess constantly reigns in the drawer of the table, in which it is difficult to find suitable fasteners, you can not do without an organizer.

The main stages of work

The author cuts three rings of different widths from a plastic pipe and makes an incision in each of them in one place.

Glue one ring on the coupling, then the second. For gluing, the author uses quick-drying glue.

After that, glue the third ring. At the junction of the edges, the master makes reinforcement (reinforcement) using wire blanks. They need to be heated, and then pressed into plastic.

The author makes a cutter from a piece of a square bar. Then it will need to be welded to the nut, which is attached to the segment of the threaded rod.

At the next stage, the author cuts the profile pipe, making the "petals". Then, a nut is welded to the end, into which the stud will be screwed.

We insert the cutter into the profile pipe, drill holes in the "petals" and the plastic sleeve, and then connect them together using bolts.

At the last stage, it remains only to put a piece of polypropylene pipe on the hairpin (to make it convenient to hold) and make a second handle by screwing it to the coupling.
