How to sew a Waldorf butterfly doll

Waldorf dolls are traditional textile folk dolls, got their name from parents who use them in raising their children according to Waldorf pedagogy.
The dolls themselves are made only from natural materials, so they are pleasant to the touch. Doll clothes are cotton or linen, stuffing is wool, cotton wool.
Waldorf butterfly dolls are recommended for babies from birth.
You can sew them yourself, for this you will need:
• Knitted fabric in white.
• Knitted fabric in flesh color.
• Cotton bright fabric.
• Natural filler - cotton wool
• White threads to match the fabric.
• Needle.
• Tailor pins.
• Scissors.
• A small ball of woolen notes.
• Colour pencils.

Process description:
• Take a small ball and wrap it with cotton or wool. Tie the bottom with strong threads several times.
• Take a white knitwear, fold in half in half, bast, stitching the corners.
• Sew the seam on the machine or on your hands.
• Turn the white cover over your face.

• Put a white cover over the cotton wool head.
• Thread the white cover.
• Wrap the thread several times in the middle of the head and fasten it. This is the line of the eyes.
• Draw a small triangle of white knitwear around the edge of the needle with thread.

• Tighten the thread, shape the nose and sew it in the middle of the intended face just below the line of the eyes.
• Take body knitwear, fold in half in half, bast, stitching corners.
• Sew the seam on the machine or on your hands.
• Turn the flesh cover over your face.

• Wear a flesh knit cover over your head.
• Spread the folds on the upper cover and pull the base of the head tightly with thread (forming the chin).

• Fold the fabric in half and cut out a butterfly-shaped body.

• Open the cap.

• Design seams, sew them on a typewriter or manually.
• Turn the fabric over your face through the neck.

• Prepare 2 small balls of cotton for pens and 2 larger ones for legs.

• Put large balls on the corners of the legs, and small balls on the corners of the pens.
• After this, starting with the wrong side, wrap the thread, fixing the cotton wool and sew on.
• Also secure the remaining arms and legs.

• Put cotton in the body, but do not stuff too tightly.
• Sew the cap to the head, bending the edge.
• Insert your head into the body.
• Bending the edge of the butterfly body, sew with hidden stitches to the base of the neck.

• Decorate the neck with a ribbon.

• Draw the eyes and mouth.

Your doll is ready!
