How to facilitate the extraction of nails from wood

Due to shrinkage of the tree or oxidation of the metal, it’s quite difficult to pull out the nails driven into the wood massif with the usual tools - a nail picker, pliers, pliers, a hammer with a forked nose, etc. Even if they can be removed, they substantially warp the surface .
It is possible to facilitate the extraction of nails from the tree by pre-heating it with a flame, for example, a gas burner.
Metal is a good conductor of heat, and when the protruding part of the nail is heated, heat quickly reaches that part of it that is in the tree.
As a result, the tree around the nail burns and the extraction of the nail with usual tools for this is facilitated by an order of magnitude.

How to close a hole in a tree

Sometimes there is a need to close a hole in a wooden part after a nail has been removed from it or a screw has been turned out. This is especially true in relation to the front (front) side.
To do this, first moisten the area around the hole with water, put a damp cloth on top and iron it several times with a hot iron, alternating with drying the surface with the same iron, but without a cloth.
After that, we pour into the hole and around it a special filler for the holes (palliative - toothpaste or soap), which we wipe with a metal disc with a shell, ironing the place with an iron.
The operation is repeated until the hole is completely tightened with filler and visually becomes invisible.

Removing nails with a stationary nail gun

Typically, this tool is used as a lever to pull out the fastener. In some cases, it is better to fix it motionlessly in a vice, insert a nail head into a longitudinal slot and use a board with nails as a lever.
If the board is longer than the nail puller, then tearing out the nails is much easier.

Vacuum cleaner magnetic nail catcher

Clamp a ring of dielectric material in a joiner's vice and, using suitable glue, glue 5 round identical magnets evenly in a circle.
After the glue hardens, we wrap the magnets with insulating tape in several layers.
Now we put the magnetic catcher on the end of the suction hose and turn on the vacuum cleaner, which draws in sawdust and other woodworking residues, and nails and other metal elements stick to the magnetic catcher.
