Simple computer desk

I’m very tired of the monotonous computer desks that are at everyone’s house like a carbon copy. And I decided to make a completely original, exclusive computer desk for my beloved, with dimensions that would be convenient for me personally. In addition, a home-made computer desk is not only very healthy, but also very cheap, since all materials can be purchased at the nearest construction and plumbing stores.

Materials for the table:
  • Threaded steel pipe (3/4 inch diameter) 610 mm - 4 pieces.
  • Steel pipe with thread (3/4 inch diameter) 457 mm - 5 pieces.
  • Steel pipe with thread (3/4 inch diameter) 152 mm - 2 pieces.
  • Threaded steel pipe (3/4 inch diameter) 51 mm - 3 pieces.
  • Threaded steel pipe (3/4 inch diameter) 25 mm - 2 pieces.
  • Tees for pipes with a diameter of 3/4 inch - 7 pieces.
  • Flange for steel pipe with thread (3/4 inch diameter) - 5 pieces.
  • End cap for steel pipe with thread (3/4 inch diameter) - 4 pieces.
  • Plywood sheet - 1 piece.
  • Tape for pasting the edges of plywood - 1 roll.

I adjusted the dimensions of the pipes to fit my parameters, but you can make a table for your height and width.

Getting to the assembly table.

We start with the easiest - assembling the base from pipes. To start, I gathered the first two legs.
Then he twisted everything else. Nothing complicated, everything is quite simple and corny - see the picture. It is desirable to paint the assembly field with nitro paint from the spray can base, but I personally left it as it is. Everything turned out very carefully, without any burrs.

Now we turn to the most difficult - to the countertop.
First of all, we cut out the rectangle of the required size. Further, if you will make a cutout (you can leave the table without cutouts), you need to draw them with a pencil. Having previously remembered the geometry for grade 7 and calculating cutouts.

With a jigsaw, we cut out our cutouts along the contour. Then, using fine sandpaper, we clean the edges of the burrs. Check for large cracks and chips. A little trick: so that when cutting the edge does not “tear” too much with a jigsaw - glue the tape around the edge so that you protect the edges of the countertop.

We take a border adhesive tape and glue it on the ends of the countertops using an iron. After the tape has stuck, we carefully cut off the excess parts with a sharp clerical knife.
If desired (as I did), you can cover with a stain in several layers and varnish on wood. There is an alternative - you can use a ready-made varnish with a woody shade. Use varnish in a well-ventilated room, and preferably in the open air.

Final assembly.
We put the countertop on the base, fasten it from the bottom with screws using a screwdriver. That's all. Very beautiful. It turned out just awesome. I am personally very pleased with the result, and the money saved.

The steel base of the pipes is very reliable and ensures the reliability of the entire structure, and greater stability.
I will arrange my computer equipment. It looks very nice.

PS: There was an idea to use PVC pipes, but in order to get a stable and reliable design, you need to use pipes of a wider diameter, which I think would not be very beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. So, keep in mind.
I hope my budget project will inspire you to more interesting ideas.
