For work, we need:
- corrugated cardboard;
- old newspapers;
- PVA glue;
- paint (I used gouache);
- pearlescent paints;
- acrylic lacquer;
- brushes;
- scissors;
- knitting needle number 4.
From the cardboard we cut the shape of the bracelet. You can make the width as you wish., I like wide bracelets, so my workpiece is 7 cm wide. Measure the length of the wrist. Important! The bracelet will be worn over the arm, so consider the width of the folded palm bud.
We glue the cardboard with double-sided tape.
We cut the newspaper into strips of 2 cm wide, 9-10 cm long.
We glue the blank with newspapers according to the principle of papier-mâché. Layer by layer, avoiding spaces, along the bracelet and across. This will strengthen our semi-finished product, give it the right shape. Leave to dry.
Now let's deal with the decoration elements. We cut the newspaper in three ways:
1 - strips 2 cm wide, 30 cm long;
2 - strips 10 cm wide, 20 cm long;
3 - strips 10 cm wide, 50 cm long.
Using knitting needles we make tubes from newspapers. At the corner of the newspaper strip, at an angle of 450, we apply a spoke and wind the entire strip completely. Fix the edge with glue.
Press the finished tubes, making them flat, and wrap them around the tip of the knitting needle, making a "snail". Glue the edge.
From different newspaper strips we get "snails" of different diameters.
Now glue the rounds to the dried bracelet.
And leave to dry completely. Here is our blank.
We begin to paint the product. Carefully paint over each element and the inside.
On top, using a dry brush technique, paint the convex parts of the "snails" with pearl paint. I took the mother of pearl in the tone of the paint, but you can make the effect of wear.
Now we cover the product with a thick layer of acrylic varnish inside and out. Let’s dry and that’s what happened.
Agree that such beauty is hard to call a cardboard bracelet. I hope my experience will help you do something similar or maybe even better.
