Modding the Endless Void system unit

The idea of this modding was the desire to make the effect of a visually empty enclosure, an illusion of infinite emptiness.
The design consists of two parallel mirrors, one of which is translucent, as in a laser cavity. If a light source is placed between these mirrors, a very beautiful effect is created that goes into the distance with a backlit tunnel. That was done - between the glass was installed 36 super-bright LEDs and a backlit fan for beauty and cooling of the body space.
To create such a device, you need to make several glasses. The front glass is translucent, French-made Reflekta glass is excellent. You need to look for him in the mirror workshops. Its appearance can be seen in the figure.
This is a drawing on which mirror glass was cut. In the middle is a hole for the cooler.
This photo shows a mirror with mounted LEDs and a screwed-in cooler.
Cutting a rectangular hole for the cooler presents a significant difficulty ... They refuse to do this in the workshops, and I spent quite a lot of time cutting it with a drill and a diamond bur. It is also difficult to make a large number of holes with a diameter of three millimeters for LEDs. I don’t give the size of the holes for the cooler, since you can use any, or you can even do without it, the effect of this will not decrease. When you solve the problems with the glass, proceed to cutting out the window in the cover of the system unit. It is worth paying attention that I have the whole structure shifted to the rear. This is due to the fact that mirrors need about twenty millimeters of space, and in the front there is a compartment for hard drives and a CD-ROM. The cut-out window and its layout are shown in the figures below.
Diodes can be taken in any color of glow, but they should be super bright. They must be inserted from the side of the mirror and fixed with hot glue from the gun.

Then connect them in parallel with a wall-mounted installation, with each LED having to put its own ballast resistor with a resistance of 820 Ohms as shown in the figure.

Next, you need to make threaded bushings with screws. A screw with an M6 thread, or any other that doesn’t matter ... but the sleeve is 10-12 millimeters long.

In fact, the depth of the tunnel directly depends on the distance between the mirrors. Everything is limited only by free space in the case. Assembly is carried out in accordance with the figure and is not difficult. I recommend also covering the side of the cooler so that it does not reflect in the mirror and does not spoil the picture. The cooler can be covered with a decorative cover and a protective net, as in Figure 14. The finished product should look like the last figure. I hope you enjoy it.

The threaded sleeve was machined on a lathe, which is not necessary. It’s enough to pick up the bolts with a beautiful hat.

Assembly drawing. Cardboard washers are recommended under the hats to reduce the risk of glass breaking.

The fan grill is typical, from the power supply. I made the frame myself out of stainless steel.
