Practical and attractive blinds made of wallpaper, which you can do yourself, will help not only protect the room from the scorching sun, but also give the home interior an original touch of sophistication. To make stylish paper blinds, it will take no more than 30 minutes and a minimum of handy tools.

Materials for work and recommendations

Wallpaper blinds perform two functions at the same time: protective and decorative, therefore, when choosing the main pattern, be sure to consider the stylistic design of the room. As the main materials and working tools you will need:

  • vinyl, acrylic or paper wallpaper;
  • cord or rope for fastening;
  • any measuring device (ruler, tape measure, level);
  • construction square;
  • scissors for cutting paper;
  • clerical hole punch;
  • double-sided tape and retainer.

As a trailer, you can use a small size bead or other decorative element, which will fall under the arm. One roll of wallpaper in standard sizes is enough to make original blinds for 4-5 windows. Buying new wallpapers is not necessary, as you can use the remnants after the repair.

The process of creating paper blinds

Wallpaper needs to be cut off with a margin, so to begin with, measure the size of the window and add 30-35 cm to the resulting number, and measure the required length of future blinds and cut it with an office knife. If the width of the wallpaper is not enough to cover the entire window opening, you can glue two sheets together using tape or paper glue.

On the inner surface of the wallpaper (without a picture), make a marking - draw lines along the width of the canvas with the same pitch of 3-4 cm, and carefully fold everything with an accordion. For the cord, you can make one hole in the middle or two at the edges of the folded accordion (at your discretion). For this purpose, use a hole punch or awl.

Pass the prepared rope through the hole and secure in the upper part using ordinary tape. If there are excess ends, they can be cut with scissors. To reliably fix the blinds from the wallpaper, it is enough to use double-sided tape, which is glued to the top of the accordion. Fold the lower louvre strip with a fan and secure it with tape or a stapler. On the free end of the rope, put on a trailer with a latch, and this is the end of the creative process - the spectacular wallpaper blinds are ready to use.
